Introduction

THN/LAN cable extrusion lines cover two high-speed, thin-wall product families: nylon-jacketed building wire (THHN/THWN), where a tough nylon layer is applied over PVC insulation, and LAN data cables (Cat5e/Cat6), where solid HDPE or foam-skin insulation is extruded over fine copper conductors to extremely tight tolerances that determine the cable's electrical performance.

For LAN cable, even small variations in insulation diameter shift the impedance and degrade signal integrity, so these lines pair a high-speed precision extruder with laser diameter gauges and capacitance monitoring for closed-loop control, running at high line speeds with rapid cooling. For THHN, a tandem setup extrudes PVC insulation followed by a thin nylon (PA) jacket in line, with screw geometry chosen to handle the hygroscopic, fast-processing nylon.
