Submersible Cable

Introduction

Submersible cable extrusion lines produce the flat and round cables used to power submersible borewell and dewatering pumps, where the insulation and sheath are permanently immersed in water and must resist water treeing, abstraction of plasticiser, and mechanical abrasion against the borewell casing.

These lines run water-resistant PVC, EPR or XLPE insulation, often with a tough outer sheath, and are commonly set up for 3-core flat profile extrusion so the cable lies flat against the pump riser pipe. A 65–90mm extruder, profile-specific flat crosshead or triple-extrusion head, long cooling line for thick walls, and synchronised caterpillar haul-off hold the flat geometry and wall thickness to IS 694 requirements. Inline spark testing verifies dielectric integrity before take-up.
