Introduction

A solar cable extrusion line from Sai Extrumech is engineered specifically for photovoltaic (PV) and DC solar wiring, where insulation must survive 25+ years of direct UV exposure, rooftop temperatures above 80°C, and continuous 1000–1500V DC stress. These lines are configured around UV-stabilised XLPE and LSZH compounds rather than standard PVC.

A typical configuration uses a 45–90mm single-screw extruder at 20:1–24:1 L/D for silane-crosslinkable XLPE (kept short to avoid premature scorch), a fixed or manual-centre crosshead for conductor sizes from 1.5mm² to 300mm², a temperature-controlled multi-pass cooling trough, dual caterpillar haul-off with constant-tension control, and automatic bobbin take-up. Optional inline spark testers and laser diameter gauges hold concentricity to IEC 62930 and EN 50618 tolerances.
